Skynotch Energy Africa Limited was established in 2012 as per the laws of the Republic of Kenya as a renewable energy technology promoter. We have since then grown to embrace renewable energy projects development by propagating a community- Developer Model of business.

The Company’s main objective is to enhance access to sustainable energy for domestic and productive use. Skynotch Energy Africa Limited is a social enterprise supporting the achievement of the universal access to sustainable energy in Kenya by 2020 and promotion of Sustainable Development Goal No 7.

To address the lack of technical capacity and understanding of investor environment which continue to hinder many community owned projects from being realized. The company is currently engaging in development of energy projects deploying hydro, solar and wind or hybrid technologies excluding diesel with capacity of 2-10MW for grid connection.

Since its inception, Skynotch Energy Africa Limited has been supported by Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (KCIC) to test the business model. KCIC offers access to space, Business advisory and mentorship, policy guidance and access to finance. We seek to leverage the energy policies in Kenya and the international goodwill to promote renewable energy solutions for productive or grid connection. The key policies that guide our work include:

Our Team

The Company has an experienced team in the diverse fields of Project Development, Administration, Resource Mobilization, Engineering and Procurement. The team takes pride in Community focused Renewable Energy Projects.

Patrick Kimathi
Patrick Kimathi Chief Executive Officer

Patrick Kimathi is a Co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer. He has experience in Project Design & Development, Resource Mobilization and Management.

Patrick worked as a Programme Coordinator at United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for over 5 years where he sharpened his project design, development, resource mobilization skills.

He holds a Degree in Communications and Languages from Kenyatta University and a Diploma in Public Relations from Kenya Institute of Management.

Mwaura njogu
Mwaura njogu Chief Technical Officer

Mwaura Njogu is the Chief Technical Officer. He has over 8 years’ experience in Renewable Energy Projects Technical Designs, Management, Research and Innovation.

He is a trainer and researcher with the Strathmore University Energy Research Centre and a lecturer of Electrical Engineering at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

Mwaura holds an MSc Degree from Peter the Great Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University (Russia) and he is a Certified T3 Solar PV Technician with the Energy Regulatory Commission.

Caroline Njoki
Caroline Njoki Finance and Administration Officer

Caroline is the Finance and Administrative Officer at Skynotch Energy Africa Ltd (SEAL). She is Responsible for administration and financial management. She has experience in finance for social development including microfinance, grant finance management and accounting. Before joining SEAL she worked in Mwito Savings and Credit as an Accounts Assistant and Amref Health Africa as a Finance Assistant.

Caroline holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce Accounting option. She is currently pursuing her certified public accountant certificate. She has passion for Gospel music and youth development.
